About

Photography has been a way for me to engage with the world. It is the beginning of a series of questions and seeking information that hopefully lead to an understanding about different aspects of this complex world.

I have worked as a photographer and educator for 25 years in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Australia. My images have appeared in the New York Times, Newsweek, The Independent UK, and the Irish Times. Other clients included Institutional Investor (New York), Ove Arup Engineers as well as aid organisations such as UNESCO and UNICEF. In Australia, my work has appeared in publications including the Sun Herald (Sydney), The Border Mail (Albury) and The Law Society of NSW Journal.

Throughout my career, I have balanced a job as photographer with that of a photography trainer. Over my 18 years in southern Africa, I published three photographic training manuals specifically addressing the need for local, relevant and appropriate training material for young adult learners. Since returning to Australia in 2000, I developed my freelance and project work, and lectured in Photography at UTS (Sydney), and Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga). I am currently sessional lecturing at Griffith University (Gold Coast).
